I’ve been Civ free for almost 20 hours now. Though likely after I right this I’ll go back and play some more. Civ 5 came out at 7am for me on Tuesday, I played it basically all day that day (which I had off of work), then all after work Wednesday, then all day Thursday (when I should have been working from home). Have to say, I like it a lot, it is definately an improvement on Civ 4 (the version of Civ 4 that existed when it was released) but it isn’t without flaws. From Hell With Love is the most recent book in Simon R Green’s “Secret Histories” series with the main character of Eddie Drood, aka Shaman Bond. It was also the second book I bought on my Kindle and I’ve been meaning to review this for a few days. So when I got my PS3 originally, I got it to play Disgaea 3. The reason I’ve kept it hooked up and keep playing on it is Valkyria Chronicles. Just recently the sequel came out on the PSP. 226 hours until Civ 5 is released (10am on Sept 21st). Nothing else to say, just counting down how long until my social life ends again and I am given over to the mantra of ‘One more turn… Just one more turn…’ The Fuller Memorandum is the third Laundry Files book by Charles Stross, and the first book that I bought and read on my Kindle. It was chosen as my first Kindle purchase because I enjoyed the last two Laundry Files books greatly and didn’t want to wait until this third one came out in paperback to buy. So after having had my Kindle for a day now, and already having finished reading one book on it and bought several others, I have realized that I may need to re-name my Kindle to WalletBane. So I’ve been playing with my new Kindle for a little bit, and I have to say that I really do love it. Probably the first device or purchase that I’ve gotten in years that I look at and wonder how I got through the day without it. Been playing some StarCraft 2, Borderlands, DDO and Star Trek Online lately. Also, working on setting up a Dark Sun campaign. So this is a couple of days late… I got delayed writing this by the time it took to scribe the long Neverwinter screed that is sticky’d right now, by goofing around in DDO and Borderlands, by working in my garden and reading other books. But enough is enough, here is the second half of my recent reading list. |
