For Want of Bookshelves

I need more bookshelves. All of my shelves are full, and I really do mean full. Books are lined up along the shelves, stacked on their side across the top of those books, and then in front of them on the bare bit of space left there is another stack of books.

And thats just what I have on my five bookshelves, I am not even talking about the couple of waist high piles on the floor or the near forty boxes of books that aren’t unpacked at the moment.

Or, to put it another way, I read a lot and I like to keep my books after having read them.

So far, this year, I have read (I think) eighty-three (83) books. The product of long bus rides, quiet evenings, and the discovery of a few new authors that I liked enough to obsessively / impulsively buy and devour just about everything they had written.

I should mention that I also have two shelves of books that I have bought and not gotten to reading yet.

My reading has slowed down a bit lately, been reading more books that tend towards the philosophical or the historical and they tend to require me to pause every so often while reading them to simply let my mind digest them and sift through all the information within them until I can get it all in order inside my head.

Keep thinking that if I get enough money togethor I’d like to buy a house where the layout would let me turn a room into just a library and study. They just don’t build homes with rooms for that use anymore so I would likely have to find a house that had a large non-master suite bedroom where I could line the walls with bookshelves and put a large old wooden desk, a comfy chair, and something like a huge antique looking wooden globe or something similar in.

Yes. I am a little silly but I do like the idea of the stereotypical old-world study.
