I was bad today, I splurged and went and bought more books. Which wouldn’t normally be a bad thing (books are good and the world would be a happier place if more people read more) except that I have two shelves with fifty-two (yes, 52) books on it that are still waiting for me to get to reading them.

Spent a chunk of yesterday watching the funeral procession for Teddy Kennedy. Impressive to see how many people turned out for it, how many showed up just to stand on the side of the road and watch all the cars go by. Been interesting watching the programs about his life as well and how much he did and how little of it was used to promote his name or personal visibility. Truly the passing of one of the great elder statesman.

I need more bookshelves. All of my shelves are full, and I really do mean full. Books are lined up along the shelves, stacked on their side across the top of those books, and then in front of them on the bare bit of space left there is another stack of books.

So my PC had been dying a slow death for the last year or so. Of course, it is right around five years old so that isn’t entirely unexpected. Of late my ram mysteriously halved, it is taking longer to boot up, the fan is starting to make a whiny noise, and worse of all it was below specs to play Champions Online.

I work (when I work) from home on Fridays. Always hard to actually get to work though. Spent the morning mostly reading email and poking restlessly at the bits of code and content I should be working on. Distracted by thought of Champions Online, the book I’ve been reading, the pile of compost in my driveway I need to finish moving to my garden in back, and wondering what to do for lunch.
I’ve resolved one of those issues so far: pizza minis for lunch.

Long day today. Wouldn’t have been that bad except the weather in Oregon has just been wrong this year. A long time ago, in a place just on the other side of town, I was a child growing up in Portland. Way back then 90+ degree weather was something that happened on one or two days every other year. I think we’ve had sixteen days so far this year over 90 degrees, including the hottest day in recorded history for Oregon (115 degrees).

It is way too late right now, but I figured I’d get this posted before I called it a night.
Got the Open Beta client working at about noon and logged into Champions Online for the first time. I have to say, to start this with, I have been waiting for this game (and alternatively posting wildly or stalking the games forums) since I first heard about it Feb of last year. It was worth the wait.
