Heroes, Chapter Twenty-Two “Landslide”

If you haven’t watched the episode already, don’t read this. In fact, if you haven’t watched it already, get the hell over to the NBC website and watch it there.

What to say about this episode… Damn.

Linderman, the man who had been the architect behind so many of the events in this first season, the man behind the curtain (to quote the ‘Wizard of Oz’) dead.

We know in the future Ando is dead, killed by Sylar. But we don’t know how that came about, and now we have Ando chasing after Sylar and Hiro chasing after him. Cool to see George Takei again too, makes you wonder how much his character knows about what is going on.

Ted dead with Sylar having eaten him to absorb his power, Clair and Peter aware of that and assuming now that Sylar destroys the city but not sure what to do about it.

Bennett facing off against Mohinder over Molly Walker, while Parkman is down for the count. If you didn’t pick up on it already, Molly Walker is the little girl Parkman found hiding in the first episode he showed up in when he first discovered his power. Sylar having just killer her parents.

Nathan’s won the election by a landslide, due to Micah tampering with the votes. We still don’t know what his father’s power was, or if his mother has powers of her own.

One episode left this season to wrap this all up… Damn. I have to admit, I didn’t start watching this show until mid-way through the season. Too much hype, too many of the same people pumping it up as had been pumping up Lost before it. I have to admit though, it lives up to the hype.

I have been impressed by the way they have manage to bring everyone togethor, all of them eventually to New York, for their own various reasons without it ever feeling contrived. It is truly a work of masterful story-telling, especially all the little small bits tying the earliest episodes to the most recent ones. It never feels like a situation of silly-stupid coincidence. It makes sense for Hiro and Ando to run into Nathan, he is one of the only people they know in town and Nathan’s press events on the day of the election would be well televised. Clair and Peter find the truck Ted was in not because of random chance, but because they were all traveling on the road that was the fastest route out of the city.

The thing I am loving the most about the series right now, despite somethings being predictable (did anyone not expect Sylar to eat Ted’s brains?) I still really have no idea at all how this season is going to end.

Something I noticed and am going to have to re-watch some episodes to find out, but is the symbol for the sword repair shop Hiro goes to the same as the tattoo seen at times on the shoulder of Jessica / Niki? Has that symbol shown up any other times in the show?

  1. HeroesFan Says:

The Haitian wears the same symbol around his neck.

  2. Hythian Says:

I just noticed the symbol also appears on the grip of the sword when Hiro first sees it in episode 12 at the Museum of Natural History.
