One Word - Janu 31st
Haven’t done one of these for a while. Stopped as the site kept getting stuck on the same word for day after day after day. Figured I’d give it a try again. We’ll see tomorrow if I keep it going once more ( though I suspect I’ll miss Thursday and Friday as I have early meetings both mornings ).
One word, sixty seconds. Write your bit, then post it here as a comment.
Edit: The word for Janu 31st was ‘flee’.

The population of Southern California has been fleeing to the Pacific Northwest for years. We mock them all, calling it the Great White Flight, while at the same time despising them for driving housing costs up higher and higher. The neighborhood I grew up in was rural, now it is full of housing developments and Californian license plates. Bastards.

Flee! Flee brings up images of Shakespear. It seems a very shakespearean phrase. Flee and Fie and all of that. Yes, I’m weird.
Let’s not get into the homonymal um, humor that can come about. Flee. Flea. Who is the guitarist or bassist for Chilli Peppers and likes to wear naught but a sock on his naughty bits on stage…
Tangent!
(I am such a weirdo, who can’t spell)

She ran. The pounding hooves on the road behind her sounded like a deathkneel to her ears, and she knew she had to get off the road or be run down, but how? The hedgerows boxed her in, until — for a second — she saw a break, and dashed off down a dirt road as the black horse flew past.
Skipped actually using the word, but I’m out of practice…

(Okay, I’m by no means an aspiring writer as are most of you, but what the heck. I’ll give it a try. Uh… I don’t have to take the whole 60 seconds, do I?)
They were here. All of them. How? When? No matter. It was time to flee.

*laughs* Write whatever the heck you want. You should see some of the weird things that show up on the oneword.com website. The really fun ones are by the people who don’t know what the word means and rattle on for 60 seconds about not knowing what the word means.

Wait, we were suppossed to write something that made sense? Whoops.
I thought it was stream of conciousness.

And how the hell did my last comment get slotted in before lapaienpieux’s…

(Obviously I altered the flow of time and space to confuse you, simply for my own disjointed amusement… o.O’ )

Fleeing the wreckage of the sinking ship, Esther did not stop to look behind her. She trusted that her husband would follow. After all, this was the 20th century.
Brutally, she thought, “and if he doesn’t, there are always more men in America.” It was not a nice thought, but Esther had never been all that nice.
(Whew! Just got it in under the wire! That was fun! Thanks for posting the link!)

Going to try to post the links up everyday again. Did so for a while, but stopped doing it when it kept getting stuck on the same word day after day.
