The glass was old. The entire house felt ancient when you walked around inside it. The shifting and creaking of the old wooden beams, the sound of the wind whistling through the attic rafters and a loose shutter somewhere slapping against the wall. But the window glass was fascinating. The way the old panes of glass had sloughed in their frames, distorting the view of the outside world.

She laid her hand on the glass, feeling the cold chill of the winter world outside that seeped through the double-leaded thickness. The house was warm. Too warm, and she wanted to feel the cold air on her cheeks, the winter wind whipping at her hair, rather than be stuck inside this tomb, this house.

Wow, our pieces almost fit together. Cool.

Nifty! ( Which was I think my under-used word of the day. )
