What is there to do in…

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

So, if, on the off chance, I somehow, maybe, find myself, somewhere, possibly, in the area, surrounding, or close to, or near by, or located adjacent to, say… Denver, just after the turn of the year…

What is there to do in the area?

Wacky Countdown Thingy…

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Since ktbuffy and Doyce have already given this a try, and I don’t get to be a follower often enough, and I have someone nagging me to do this anyways, I figured I’d give this a shot.

The hardest part of this will be remembering some of this, well, that and actually taking it seriously and not putting up random ‘defensive humor’ comments.

10 firsts:
…first girlfriend: Teresa Keller, friends, dated, engaged, ex-fiance
…first best friend: Britain Cumming, way back in 1st grade and the same soccer team
…first screen name: questor, C64 BBS via 300 baud modem sharing cracked games
…first kiss: someone in my 1st grade class (girls drove off boys with kisses and cooties so they could take the swings), first serious kiss would be Michelle ‘Asian-Last-Name-I-Don’t-Remember’ who jumped me during a speach tournament in high school
…first piercings: Uhm? Piercings? None here.
…first crush: Jill Whittaker, in retrospect she was a bit of a snotty brat
…first music: First CD KMFDM ‘Angst’, First cassette was of some symphony playing Wagner, First vinyl was the Muppet Movie soundtrack I think
…first car: Uhm? Car? No cars here unless the little toy ones when I was a kid count.
…first stuffed animal: Bert from Sesame Street. Not sure what happened to him.

9 lasts:
…last cigarette: Never smoked, costs too much and smells too bad
…last alchoholic beverage: Pinot Noir with dinner four days ago
…last kiss: Sometime between February and June this year
…last movie seen: In the theatre, “Serenity” I believe. At home, “You’ve Got Mail” which I watch every few days
…last phone call: About two hours ago, to medical insurance people
…last cd played: Currently playing VNV Nation, ‘Praise the Fallen’
…last bubble bath: A couple girlfriends ago, her apartments big bath tub, actual date escapes me
…last time you cried: Recently, within the last week or so, just can’t remember which book it was
…last date: Last real date would be three (four?) years ago I think, really should start dating again. Last ’surprise blind date’ was February when some friends tried to set me up with an ex- ( in their defense, they didn’t realize that ).

8 have you evers:
…dated one of your best friends: yes
…skinny dipped: does outdoor above ground swimming pools count? if so, yes
…kissed somebody and regretted it: yes
…fallen in love: yes
…lost someone you loved: yes
…been depressed: yes
…woken up and not known where you were: most mornings I am not sure where I am

7 places you’ve been to:
…Canada ( British Columbia and whatever the one to its east is )
…Florida ( it isn’t all retirement communities… )
…California ( and I have regretted it every time so far, with the scars to show for it )
…New York ( the city most recently, upstate to visit friends and Ren’ faire in the past )
…Arizona ( if I’d worn alcohol based after-shave, I’d have spontaneously combusted leaving the airport, damn it was hot )
…North Carolina ( does it count if I lived there for a while? what if I lived there and hated it? )
…Pacific Ocean ( being in a boat far enough offshore that you can’t see land isn’t as much a place, as being in a ‘lack of place’ )

6 things you’ve done today:
…had Cheerios for breakfast
…read & written email
…played some CoH
…listened to some music
…dragged my space heater from room to room to stay warm
…started laundry so I eventually have clean clothes to get dressed with

5 favorite things in NO order:
…the sound of rain on the roof and the patter of it against the window
…being out on the end of the jetty’s at the Oregon coast, surround by nothing by ocean
…lazy days curled up beneath a blanket with a stack of good books to read
…hanging out online with friends, playing CoH or just chattering by IMs
…cuddling with someone I care about

4 people you can tell [almost] anything to:
…They know who they are better then I, as I am not sure I could name 4

3 wishes:
…Good friends, because they are really what makes life worth living
…That I outlive my friends, so they don’t have to try to eulogize me
…Good health, as I have seen quite enough of hospitals for this lifetime

2 things you want to do before you die:
…Get some of these stories in my head out to share with the world somehow
…Travel more, no where in particular, just to have seen more of the world

1 thing you regret:
…Not having said hello to a friend who passed me on the bus so many years ago

And that was actually a lot harder then I expected it to be… Bleagh…

Groggy

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

So I didn’t sleep too much last night. Not my fault. I blame her.

Okay, not her fault either. Ages back I helped her a little with her blog and she sent me a book by way of thanks and it is really the books fault. Read the entire thing last night. Just that good.

The not posting very much for the last few days is definately my fault though. When I’ve opened my web browser up lately it has been more to update my guide site then to post anything here. It’s been keeping me pretty busy and still trying to decide what to add to it next. Several sections are still very devoid of content ( storyarcs, zones, powersets ) but I have a lot of the content togethor already and just need to process it and get it into a format that isn’t hideous and get it posted up. Still looking for suggestions from people on things they’d like to see added to it.

Geez… Today is Sunday. My head is so not screwed on straight. Thought it was Saturday. Blegh. Where did all the time go…

Local news…

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

So I turned on and watched the local news for a few minutes while having lunch today. Two big things that stuck in my mind…

Bio-diesel fuel. A bunch of farms in eastern Oregon basically decided that food wasn’t enough of a cash crop, and swapped over to making diesel fuel from crops. Big thing right now actually. Growing demand for it in Portland from the rather large population of environmentalists we have ( it pollutes less when burnt, is renewable from crops, and is local instead of imported ) and a couple of the large in-state trucking companies have said they are converting their entire fleet of trucks over to using just bio-diesel fuel in the next year. Will be nice if it continues to catch on, a nice kick into the states economy.

An upcoming ‘annual’ holiday parade. Okay, I grew up in Portland. I’ve been back here for a couple of years now. I have never heard of this parade before. Can it really be an ‘annual’ event if it is the first time it is happening? Or are they referring to the holiday itself as being an ‘annual’ event and not the parade?

Head in the clouds…

Monday, November 21st, 2005

So my head has been kind of fuzzy for the last few days.

I had a piece of writing I should have finished on Friday that I am still struggling to get done. Just can’t manage to get it to the right length and everytime I go back to add more filler into it I end up getting frustrated at it pretty quick and loose the thread of what I am writing.

Phalanx had an event on Saturday. Managed to be there for the start of it, we made a pretty decent amount of Prestige in a couple of missions with 7 and then 5 people on the team who were all Phalanxers.

Did the first CoV strike force after that. It took a while to get organized and going, and then we restarted the first mission, and then it was just painful at times because of the difference in levels between us and the missions base level. But we got it done and got possibly the coolest badge I have seen yet in game.

My ‘City of’ guide site is progressing slowly. Getting more content added to it daily. If people have things they are curious about, or would like a listing or information on, feel free to drop me an email or post a comment here about it.

But mostly this weekend I was somewhat zoned out. Felt like my brain was on idle a lot of the time. I don’t even remember what I did for most of Sunday. Not sure if I have a head cold or if my brain wandered off and hasn’t quite made it back yet. Kind of fuzzy-headed today too.
